how is your upbringing different from your parents?

i don't know here but in italy schools are very different from 35 years ago!!!
when my parents used to go school the relationship with the teachers was more serious than now. they were not friends, they had to educate children and teach them something besides a subject,they had to teach them how to be honest and true!!
now in italy if you want to be a good person you have to be curious, you have to have parents like mine that help you to try different things, to have different experience and go over the common things that our school teaches us.
if you want to be a good person you have to find the real values outside, of if you are lucky you can find one of the few teachers that want to give you the secrets of being a good adult!!!
